Democratic Rule of Law

A strong democratic society governed by the rule of law is essential for sustainable development. To strengthen it, our work combines quantitative and qualitative research methods. This enables us to describe and explain the different forms of violence affecting individuals, communities, and organizations, while evaluating how public safety and justice institutions operate within their specific contexts. Our innovative research helps explain how violence evolves and how police forces, prosecutors’ offices, courts, and other actors within the justice system actually function.

In the context of Mexico’s ongoing judicial reform, we monitor its progress and propose solutions to build a more independent and effective justice system. Drawing on the evidence we generate, we advance concrete recommendations that inform public policy and government agendas. Our proposals are designed to prevent violence, expand access to justice, and strengthen institutions that are more effective, transparent, and respectful of human rights.
